Terminology update: Introducing documents and workflows

At airSlate, we are committed to refining our platform and elevating the user experience. In recent updates, we revisited some of our most-used terms to make things crystal clear.

Document is the new term for Flow:

Think of a document as a digital envelope filled with one or more files sent to different recipients based on their roles in a document workflow.

Workflow is the new name for Template:

A workflow is a repeatable business process. You add fillable documents and forms, set up the step-by-step document journey, and then spice it up with automation using bots, autostarts, shareable links, and conditions.

For more details, please check out our digest.

Release Notes 1.71

What's new

Version history: Restore previous versions

Keep track of changes to your template and restore any previous version using the version history feature. Restoring a previous version will create a new draft version, which you can then publish to make it the current template version.

To access your template's version history, click on the three dots icon in the bottom-right corner of the workflow builder and select Version history.

Improved workflow setup with an upgraded step card

Our updated step card makes it easy to set recipients. You can designate a default recipient for all documents sent from your template and customize who gets what with one click of the Set recipient button. The new step card centralizes the recipient setup in one place and enhances the visualization of your selected recipient.

Note: This feature is in beta and will develop and change over time (changes will roll out gradually over the next few months). However, you can always request early access by contacting our support team.

Terminology update: From Slates to Flows and Templates

Do you remember when you started using airSlate and kept seeing the word Slate but had no idea what it meant? After conducting numerous customer surveys and research, we're excited to introduce our new names for the main terms.

Flow (previously known as Slate) is a one-time business process that you can create by adding fillable documents and forms, setting up a step-by-step workflow, and automating it with the help of Bots.

To run multiple Flows with the same settings but different recipients, save your Flow as a Template (previously known as Flow).

Slate becomes Flow, and Flow is now Template. We believe these changes will make using our product easier, allowing you to get the most out of workflow automation.

Note: This feature is now available to all users. We want to thank everyone who provided feedback during the beta period — your input helped us fine-tune this feature. For more details, check out our documentation.

Create Groups

Groups are a convenient way to organize your teammates according to their department or level of responsibility and customize their permissions. Add Admins to configure Group Templates, Auditors to review Flows, and members to run and fill out Flows.

Your teammates can join multiple Groups, making it possible to create cross-functional teams and share specialists across them. One more thing: if you require any Group member to complete documents at a specific Step, you can add the entire Group as a recipient for that particular Step.

Note: This feature is now available to all users. We want to thank everyone who provided feedback during the beta period — your input helped us fine-tune this feature. For more details, check out our documentation.

Inbox: All your documents in one place

The new Inbox folder arrived. Starting now, you can quickly access the completed documents and those you still need to fill out. The Inbox has tabs, so you'll find the Flows you need even faster.

Be careful deleting Flows from your Inbox. Just as in the All Flows folder, you can't undo this action, so by deleting documents from here, you delete them forever.

Note: This feature is now available to all users. We want to thank everyone who provided feedback during the beta period — your input helped us fine-tune this feature. For more details, check out our documentation.

Our new Step settings give you more options than ever before. Need to find documents faster? No problem. Just add tags to improve your search through Flows. Want to make sure your recipients stay on track? We've got you covered. You can now schedule reminders, redirect recipients to a website or customize the signing experience for each recipient.
